Hint: Obesity is a type of disorder in which there is an accumulation of excessive fat in the body. It occurs when the person’s body mass index is greater than or equal to 30. Due to obesity, there are increased chances of health problems in the body.

It increases the risk of hypertension, heart diseases,type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis etc. Main causes of obesity are lifestyle activities such as unhealthy diet and inactivity, genetic and hormonal changes. When a person consumes more calories than he burns through exercise the person becomes obese.
Effect of obesity on the skeletal system- Obesity leads to deterioration of bone density and muscle mass. This leads to increased risks of bone weakness, fractures and insulin resistance. Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance further increases the chances of fractures. This condition is known as osteosarcopenic obesity. Overall obesity leads to poor health outcomes Obesity can sometimes lead to bone spurs which is the condition of extra bone growth.

Person with body mass index equal to 25 is overweight and equal to or greater than 30 is said to be obese according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If BMI is between 30-35 it is class 1 obesity, if it's between 35-40 it is class 2 obesity and above 40 is class 3 obesity which is a severe or extreme type of obesity.
