In the case of photoperiodism, the plant with auxin present in a shady area shows the best growth and development whereas the plant present in a lighted area has normal growth and the stem becomes bent. In case of extreme or high light conditions the auxin of the plant gets destroyed which leads to the formation of the weak plant and in some cases it causes senescence of the plant.

Auxin is used for the eradication of weeds, for this synthetic auxins are used like 2,4-dichloro phenoxy acetic acid are used. It stimulates the formation of root after stem cutting. It causes the formation of seedless or parthenocarpic fruit. The spray of auxin helps in flowering and some plants prevent flowering in case of high concentration, prevention of flowering were used in those plants in which leaves are edible. It prevents premature dropping of food. It prevents sprouting during storage and it leads to an increase in the number of dwarf shoots and this leads to the formation of large numbers of fruits.

In Vietnam synthetic auxins are misused for forest exposure. In some cases, auxins are not considered hormones but they do not get produced by specific tissues. It gets produced at low concentration and transport from one part to another.
