Hint:- India has 7561 km of coastline, of which Tamil Nadu has 960 km. It is 900 km along the Bay of Bengal on the east coast and 60 km along the west coast of the Arabian Sea. This coastline forms approximately 1/6 of the overall coastline of India.

Complete answer:
The difference between the western coastal plain and the eastern coastal plain
1. Located along the eastern coast of India, the eastern coastal plain is swept away by the Bay of Bengal. The Western Coastal Plain, though, lies along India's west coast and is swept away by the Arab Sea.
2. With a wide plain and flat surface, the East Coast plain runs seamlessly from the north to the south. But the plain of the West Coast still stretches from north to south, and it is intersected by mountain ridges in some areas.
3. The Eastern Coastal Plain is smaller than the plains of the West Coast. The distance ranges between 80 and 100 km, but the Eastern Coastal Plain is narrow and 50 to 65 km deep. It is so small in some areas that the Western Ghats meet the waters of the sea.
4. On the Eastern Coastal Plains, the major rivers create large deltas. But on the West Coast, the short swift rivers do not create any deltas.
5. The Eastern Coast is sandy and slopes softly into the sea of alluvium. There are also sand dunes and marshy land. Lagoons (Chilka, Pulicat) are built on certain coastal strips. But with sand and sand dunes, the Western Coast is relatively rugged. It slopes down to the sea suddenly. In the northern portion, there is no lagoon. On the Konkon Coast, it has several estuaries. But the southern portion, the Malabar Coast, in particular, has a stunning backwater scene with a collection of lagoons.

Note :- With a wide plain and flat surface, the East Coast plain runs seamlessly from north to south, while the West Coast plain also runs from north to south and is intersected by mountain ridges in some areas.
