Purpose of survey:- A survey is a research method used for gathering data from a predefined group of respondents to produce information and inspect the various topics of interest. They can have multiple purposes, and researchers can conduct it in many ways depending on the methodology that they choose and the study's goal.
The Survey of India used systematic arrangements to plan and draw the topographic maps.
In quarter – inch maps , a scale of 4 miles is taken to an inch. It is also called as a one-in-million sheet map.In quarter – inch maps , each and every sheet extends over 6 degrees of longitudes and 4 degrees of latitudes in which elevation is displayed in meters.
The one –inch sheets are the sheets when the degree sheets are sub-divided into 16 equal sheets, each representing an extent of 15 inch. On this scale 1 mile is equal to 1 inch.
