Hint: The main difference between the ferrous and non-ferrous metals is their difference in the iron content. Both types may be pure .ferrous metals contain iron. whereas non-ferrous metals include aluminum, tin copper, and metals like gold and silver.
Complete answer:
Non Ferrous minerals: In metallurgy, a nonferrous is a type of metal including all the alloys, that are free from iron contain or (ferrite) in an appreciable amount.
Basically, it is more costly than ferrous type metals. non-ferrous metals are used because of some desirable properties such as, it has low weight( for example aluminum), it has higher conductivity (for example copper).it shows non-magnetic nature or resistance to corrosion( for example zinc).
Some non-ferrous materials are also used in the industries of iron and steel.
For example, bauxite used as a flux for the blast furnace.
Ferrous minerals: these are the minerals, which contain iron content in an appreciable amount. Ferrous minerals are mainly based on the iron-carbon alloy mixed with other alloys such as alloys, tool steels, stainless steels. Those alloys which have an iron with a valency of +3 are known as ferric. Ferrous minerals are the minerals that contain the element iron. metals can be cast into, finished part into, intermediate form. All ferrous metals contain magnets. They contain a minimum quantity of other metals in order to give the appropriate properties. As atoms transform from one specific arrangement to another, it gives good mechanical properties.
Note: Ferrous metals come from most recycled material in the world and also from products such as cars, home appliances. ferrous minerals are good conductors of electricity whereas non-ferrous not conduct electricity.
