Hint: Periodic table consists of elements which are arranged on the basis of increase of atomic number. There are four blocks of the periodic table, that is, s-block, p-block, d-block and f-block.

Normal elements are the elements of the periodic table present in s-block and p-block of the periodic table and transition elements are the elements present in d-block of the periodic table.

The transition elements and their compounds possess catalytic properties.

Transition elements are occupied in the group 3 to 12 of the periodic table. Some examples of transition elements are, iron, zinc, titanium etc. The transition elements possess variable valency because of presence of valence electrons in two sets of orbital, that is, $\left( {n - 1} \right)d$ and $ns$. Because of incomplete d-orbital they are colorful in nature. Colour of titanium is purple.
