Hint: The solution is formed by dissolving solute in the solvent. Solution is divided into aqueous solution and non-aqueous solution. Water is the universal solvent which can dissolve the maximum amount of compounds in it. The word aqueous means water.

Complete step by step answer:
A solution is a mixture of solute and solvent which is homogeneous in nature. The homogeneous solution means that the molecules or ions which are present in the solution are mixed so uniformly that the solute and solvent cannot be differentiated. Example of a homogeneous solution is sea-water. This solution is the opposite of a heterogeneous solution where the molecules or ions of solute in solvent are not uniformly distributed and both the components can be easily distinguished. Examples of heterogeneous solutions are sand and water. The substance which is dissolved in the solvent is known as solute and the substance in which is solute is added is solvent. Both solute and solvent combine to form a solution. The solvent in the solution is present in a larger amount and solute in the solution present in a lesser amount.
Solution is divided into aqueous solution and non-aqueous solution.
The aqueous solutions are defined as the solution where the solvent which is used is water. Example of aqueous solution is salt solution where the solute is salt and solvent is water.
The non-aqueous solutions are defined as the solution where the solvent which is used is other than water. Example of a non-aqueous solution is Sulphur dissolved in carbon disulphide.

Note: The aqueous solution is further differentiated as strong electrolyte and weak electrolyte on the basis of dissociation of solute compound in water. Strong acid solution and strong base solution are considered as strong electrolyte and weak acid solution and weak base solution are considered as weak electrolyte.
