Hint: Vellore mutiny was the first major mutiny by the Indian sepoys. It was fought against the East India Company and predated the Indian Revolt of 1857.

Complete answer: By the end of the 1$8^{th}$ century, the English started disregarding the religious sentiments of Hindu and Muslim sepoys in India. Soldiers were prohibited from wearing religious marks and were forced to shave off their moustaches and beards. This offended both Hindu and Muslim soldiers. This led to Indian sepoys revolt against the English. The mutiny kickstarted on 1$0^{th}$ July 1806 where the sepoys killed 14 British officers and 115 Englishmen of the 6$9^{th}$ Regiment. They declared Tipu Sultan’s son Fateh Hyder as the king by raising the flag of Mysore Sultanate over the Vellore fort. Later, 100 Indian soldiers were caught and shot dead.
As the impact of the mutiny, Sir Craddock was called back to Britain and the new dress regulations and flogging of Indian soldiers were abolished.
Thus, option (C) is the correct answer.

Note: The Vellore mutiny has similarities with the Revolt of 1857 as both of them took place for the removal of the British rule. 1857 Revolt aimed to re-establish the Mughal rule while the Vellore mutiny aimed to re-establish the rule of the successors of Tipu Sultan.
