In the early years, everything was made up of gas. Mostly gases, like hydrogen and helium, expanded and cooled. Over billions of years, gravity caused gas and dirt to form galaxies, stars, planets, and more. The matter that opened from the massive Bang developed into everything within the universe.
Our Milky Way Galaxy was once thought to comprise the entire known universe. Today our universe encompasses many billions of Galaxies, and its history are often recounted back to its earliest moments.
Our universe began with an explosion of space itself - the massive Bang. Starting from extremely high density and temperature, space expanded, the universe cooled, and thus the only elements formed. Gravity gradually drew matter together to form the primary stars and thus the first galaxies. Galaxies collected into groups, clusters, and superclusters.
