1)Producers have a major role in the food chain as they are autotrophs so mostly are plants, but phytoplankton can also be there as producers and they with the help of photosynthesis and chemosynthesis convert inorganic matter into organic for the use of higher trophic level.

2)Producers are an important component of all food chains, food web, and energy pyramids, and all the trophic levels that come above them provide energy to them.

3)The level above the producers is primary consumers like insects and rabbits who are again eaten up by secondary consumers for energy like big animals and then they are eaten by tertiary consumers and receive energy for them.

4)As we can see they play a primary and important role in the food chain as they are also known as converters or transducers and for the synthesis of organic food from inorganic raw materials, they also entrap solar energy through chlorophyll and they are all green photosynthetic plants.
