Hint: In world war 1, the Allied powers defeated Imperial Germany. This provided an opportunity for parliamentary parties to restructure German polity as Emperor Wilhelm retired. Thus, at the town of Weimar, a national assembly met to form a republic with a federal structure and a democratic constitution.

Complete answer: Germany was in chaos between 1818-1919, people were starving as the Kaiser had fled and people called the government “ November criminals” , for signing the armistice. Hence, the Weimar Republic was formed.
The Weimar Republic was the government of Germany from 1919 to 1933, until the rise of Hitler in Germany, it faced several issues:-
Economic Crisis: There were overwhelming war debts which had to be paid in gold made the German state financially crippled and posed problems for them. Subsequently, god reserves depleted and the value of the German mark fell. Prices of essential goods rose dramatically, while the hyper-inflation made the money worth-less.
Political defects: The Weimar Republic was weak due to inherent constitutional irregularities such as proportional representation and Article 48 (which gave the President the power to impose emergency and rule by decree). They did not possess any Charismatic leadership and the government was stuck in the old monarchy system. The democratic parliamentary system failed to provide solutions or benefits to the people in the times of the severe economic crisis.
the German people blamed the new Weimar republic for the defeat of Germany in world war one and they were humiliated by the acquisition of Germany by a foreign power.

Note: The treaty of Versailles ended the state war between the Allied powers and Germany, it is one of the important peace treaties signed on 28 June 1919 in Versailles, which resulted in ending the world war one. The secretariat of the United Nations registered the treaty on 21 October 1919. Subject: Social Science
