All organisms, including human beings, that live within depend on the resources present on earth. These resources include both the living factors known as the biotic components or factors such as food and the non- living factors called the abiotic components such as air, water.
And in return, these factors of environment are affected by the size and the rate of growth of a population.
Nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps:
> Nitrogen fixation – It is formation of ammonia from nitrogen.
> Nitrification – It is the formation of nitrates from the ammonia.
> Assimilation – it is the incorporation of ammonia and nitrates into biological tissues.
> Ammonification – it is the formation of organic nitrogen compounds to ammonia.
> Denitrification – it is the process of conversion of nitrogen again by nitrates.
Fixation is the first step which makes nitrogen usable by the plants.
