Hint: The need for reforms in political parties is to indirectly strengthen democracy as to prevent political parties from influencing election or election results through money and muscle power. Reforms in political parties help in fair elections in the country.

Complete answer:
Four major efforts to reform political parties in India-
In past also some efforts were made to reform political parties were as follow
1. Constitution amendment of Anti defection law made in 1985. This law prevented an elected member(MLA and MP) from changing its party under which he was elected.
2. Candidates are required to file an affidavit to reduce money and muscle power. In an affidavit candidate has to present all his property, educational qualification and criminal record reports before public domain.
3. Election commission mandatory political parties to bring internal democracy.

But still these efforts are not enough so major efforts to be taken should be as follows.
1. Law for regulation of internal affairs in the party should be made to promote eligible candidates in the upper position of the party. No discrimination should be made inside political party.
2. About one third of tickets should be reserved for women to maintain gender equality.
3. There should be state functioning for election to prevent discrimination between two parties as some parties are economically strong parties suppress weak ones
4. Active involvement of those who can bring reforms, deserving persons of an area or region should be given tickets instead of undeserving members.

Note:Anti-defection law was brought with amendment 1985 as in1967 several political deflations were happening. Elected members in Haryana were changing their party frequently. There was an elected member in the Haryana legislative assembly named Ayaram who had changed his party in 1967 within a year and the expression ‘Ayaram gayaram’ was famous.
