Hint: While parking the vehicle in the uphill turn the front wheels are away from the curb. But in the downhill turn the front wheels towards the curb. If we do this on a slope, automatically arrest the beside wheels. It leads to the vehicle being away from danger.
Complete step by step solution:
Generally, we know that, when the vehicle moves in a slope or uphill the gradient resistance acts on a vehicle. Gradient resistance comprises the weight of the vehicle, angle of the slope, and it is pushed downwards or upwards so acceleration due to gravity acts on the vehicle.
In the manual transmission vehicle, if you park the vehicle in the slope you will engage the gears but not in neutral position. Because the vehicle is in gear, all wheels in the vehicle should be arrested so it doesn’t rotate.
But in the automatic transmission there is no gear engaged because it is run in the torque converter which means it is in the fluid control. In the automatic transmission if you park the vehicle in the slope it leads to transmission damage. It can be avoided only by using the parking brake on the slope before you put the transmission in the park position.
Parking brake means the brake connected to the rear wheels. It is not connected to the front wheels. It is used only in mechanical systems.
Note: While parking the vehicle in the uphill and downhill turn the front wheels against the curb. Because if your vehicle rolls backward slowly from the position until it reaches the rear wheels it turns against the curb it acts as a block. Wheel skidding occurs in this case. It automatically returns to the original position.
