Hint: Both the terms related are to the coordinate system. We can say that when a point is plotted on a graph we need two specific points that are coordinates on X axis and Y axis. These are also known as to be abscissa and ordinate. Let’s take a look in detail!

Complete step by step solution:
We know that when we plot a point on a graph we need two specific points. There are two coordinates on the geometry.
One of them is the X axis and the other is Y axis.
Now the point on the X axis is called abscissa and the point on Y axis is called ordinate.
So when we plot a point we write the coordinates of the point as \[P\left( {x,y} \right)\] where the x and y are the abscissa and ordinate.
Now if the point is on X axis its Y coordinate is zero and is written as \[P\left( {x,0} \right)\].
And if the point is on the Y axis its X coordinate is zero and is written as \[P\left( {0,y} \right)\].

Note: Note that if the point is in the first quadrant, then both abscissa and ordinate are positive like \[P\left( {x,y} \right)\] . The sign changes according to the quadrant.
In second quadrant it is \[P\left( { - x, + y} \right)\]
In third quadrant it is \[P\left( { - x, - y} \right)\]
In fourth quadrant it is \[P\left( {x, - y} \right)\]
