Hint:- To increase the yielding and to make some organisms resistant to various diseases, a particular part of their gene has been modified. Genetically modified organisms are superior to the other members of the same species.

Complete Answer:-First we will discuss the genetically modified organisms, so these organisms refer to those whose genes have been modified or altered using genetic engineering techniques to make them superior to the other organisms of the same species.
So, in other words we can say that these organisms do not occur naturally but are rather the result of human interference. These organisms are also called transgenic organisms.
There are also many risks regarding the health issues caused by the plants as they are not natural and can cause allergy or other problems when consumed.
Now we will discuss how GM plants are useful.
Gm plants are more resistant to environmental factors such as cold, rainfall, photoperiod, etc..
They are also less dependent on the chemical fertilizer and pesticides.
Their quality of the seeds increase and also the yielding capacity of the plants increases. This can be seen in the case of green revolution when the crops were genetically modified so that the yielding will increase and the need of the population will be fulfilled.
BT cotton plant is the example of such genetically modified plants. In BT cotton BT toxin is used as a biological toxin. The toxin is a crystal cry protein.

Note:- The resistant gene in the plant increases the yield and the plant uses less amount of insecticide as the resistant gene either kills the insect or produces such chemicals that repels certain kinds of insects.
