Frozen Embryo Transfer is the process of transferring the embryo that was made in the IVF process in the lab into the uterus. In this process the embryo was already frozen by the previous IVF process. These embryos are most likely frozen five, six or in some cases seven days after the retrieval of eggs. This total process takes around 3-4 weeks from the time the patient gets her menses. Sometimes, it can take more time as the process may be broken in some steps.
The embryo transfer is scheduled based on the starting day of progesterone supplementation and on what stage the embryo was cryopreserved. For example, if the embryo was cryopreserved on day 5 post-egg-retrieval then the FET will be scheduled for day 6 after progesterone supplementation starts.
