Hint: This is the given number in mixed fraction form. We will convert it into an improper fraction first. It has a numerator and denominator. As we need to convert them into percentage we will multiply it with 100. This is because this fraction is a part of the whole so we will find what part it is 100%. So we will simply multiply it with 100 and simplify the fraction to simplest form. And in order to convert it in decimal we will perform the division.
Complete step by step solution:
We have to convert this into an improper fraction first. For that we will multiply the denominator with the whole number and then add it to the numerator, this is the process. And when we write this with a denominator it is the same.
Mixed fraction to improper fraction \[ \Rightarrow \dfrac{{{\text{denominator x whole number + numerator}}}}{{{\text{denominator}}}}\]
\[ - 1\dfrac{3}{4} = \dfrac{{ - 1 \times 4 + 3}}{4}\]
Now on calculating we get,
\[ - 1\dfrac{3}{4} = \dfrac{{ - 4 + 3}}{4}\]
On adding we get,
\[ - 1\dfrac{3}{4} = \dfrac{{ - 1}}{4}\]
This is the fraction from now.
Conversion into decimal:
Now we just divide the numerator by the denominator.
So we know that, \[\dfrac{{ - 1}}{4} = - 0.25\]
This is the decimal number with a decimal point.
Conversion into percent:
now we can directly multiply the decimal above by 100,
\[ = - 0.25 \times 100\]
On multiplying the decimal places will be removed and the answer will be,
\[ = - 25\% \]
This is the percentage with a sign of percent.
Note: Note that it is not at all difficult to convert a number from one form to another, only the procedure is important. Like here two conversions are there. So don’t get confused.
Also note that when we multiply a decimal number by 100 that is convert it into percentage; the decimal will shift only and only two places to right because 100 is g=having only 2 zeros with it.
