Biomass is obtained from living organisms such as plants, animals etc. The most common biomass materials used for energy are plants, wood, and waste. These are called biomass feedstocks. Biomass energy falls in the category of non renewable source and also burning of biomass produced gases which adds to the air pollution. Biomass is burnt to create heat and is used as a source of fuel in villages for cooking food and all.
Hydroelectricity refers to the electricity produced by using the energy of the flowing water. It is produced by building dams on rivers and water is stored behind walls and when it is allowed to fall it moves through turbines, they start moving and with the help of electric generators, electricity is produced. It is a clean source of energy as compared to biomass as it does not cause any pollution and is also a kind of renewable source of energy.

Biomass energy requires clearing of forests and which can take years to re establish themselves, so it affects our environment and aids in deforestation. Also, biomass has very low energy density as comparison to the energy produced by hydroelectric power plants.
