As India’s rivers are drying up and more rivers are turning seasonal, the rally was initiated to create mass awareness and to take public support for a government policy to save them.
- The mission of policy is to increase the amount of flow of water in the rivers by the process of tree plantation for a minimum of 1 Km width on either side of the rivers and half a km for tributaries.
- The most important thing in this rally is the support of the public to implement this solution to revive our rivers.
- The collaboration was made with scientists and lawmakers including Tamil Nadu agricultural university.
- Isha Foundation is drafting a national overarching policy recommendation to the central government.

This rally for rivers is needed because:

2) The Ganga is one of the most endangered rivers in the world

Each person’s average water requirement is a million litres in a year. Rivers play a very important role in the water cycle by draining nearly 75% of the earth’s land surface.
