Hint:India has diverse physiographic features like mountains, islands ,plateau etc, and coastal plains are one of these features. India has a 7516.6 km long coastline . India has coastal plains on both eastern and western sides of the country.

Complete Answer:Flanked by the Arabian Sea on one side and Bay of Bengal on the other, India has two types of coastal plains
-Eastern coastal plains
-Western coastal plains

The eastern coastal plains extends from West Bengal in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south and passes through Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It has extremely fertile and developed deltas of river Mahanadi, Krishna, Godavari and Kaveri.

The eastern coastal plains are further divided into the following categories:
-Utkal plains: With Chilika lake on the North and Kolleru Lake on the south, this part of the coast receives heavy rainfall and is famous for banana, coconut and rice cultivation
-Andhra coast: Extending between the Kolleru Lake and Pulicat Lake, the Andra coast has important ports like the Visakhapatnam port and is often hit by tropical cyclones.
-Coromandel coast: The Coromandel coast extends from Pulicat Lake and covers eastern part of Tamil Nadu till Kanyakumari. This part of the eastern coast remains dry throughout the summers and receives rainfall in north-east monsoons.

Hence the correct option is (C ).

Note:Unlike the eastern coastal plain which is broad and emergent , the western coastal plain is narrower and submerged. The western coastal plain is further divided into Kutch /Kathiawar coast, Konkan coast, Kanada coast and Malabar coast. The eastern coastal plain has more deltas than western coastal plains. On the other hand, eastern coastal plain has fewer ports and harbours than the western coastal plain.
