Hint: We know that salt is a mineral which is made up of sodium chloride. Salt exists in the form of crystals naturally typically known as rock salt or halite. In sea water salt is present in large quantities, where it is the main mineral constituent.

Complete step by step solution:
A salt consists of the positive ion known as cation of a base and the negative ion known as anion of an acid. The salt is also referring to common table salt, or sodium chloride. Salt is essential for life, and saltiness is one of the basic human tastes. Salting is a very important method for the preservation of food. Iodised salt is table salt that is mixed with a few amounts of various salts of the element iodine. The ingestion of iodine prevents iodine deficiency.
Iodine is one of the most important elements in the production of thyroxine Hormone by the thyroid gland. Deficiency of iodine in the diet could lead to the deficiency hormone in the body. Thyroxine hormone regulates the fats, protein and carbohydrate metabolism in the body of an individual. Deficiency of iodine in the diet produces less thyroxine hormone which further leads to Goitre.
Iodised salt is table salt mixed with a minute amount of various salts of the element iodine. Hence it is a Mixture.

Note: Note that the goitre causes the neck to swell up which shows the sign of thyroid enlargement. Worldwide, iodine deficiency affects about two billion people and is the leading preventable cause of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Therefore, doctors advise using iodized salt to prevent Goitre disease.
