Hint: The Gupta period is well-known for its achievements in architecture, religion and science. Between c. 320 and 550 CE, the empire expanded across parts of southern India and central and northern India.

Complete answer: 320-335 CE, the empire witnessed the rapid expansion under the reign of Chandragupta I. The period under the Gupta dynasty rule was of prosperity and growth and came to be known as a “Golden Age” of Indian history, which continued for the next two and a half centuries.
The Gupatas expand their empire through war but their cultural sophistication is manifested in the art and architectural phase of Gupta empire is well-reputed as the sculpture and architecture of this period can be found in cities of Ajanta and Ellora, Sarnath and other cities. The coins and inscriptions of the Gupta period proved meticulous for the historians as they gave an insight into the period. An inscription tells us that Sri Gupta was the first ruler and he belonged to the Dharan Gotra as stated in the Riddhapur copper plate inscription. The Allahabad pillar inscription credits Samudragupta with extensive conquests by his court poet Harisensa. The dynasty is also known for its “coins' ', as their gold coins were known as Dinars and the Gupta coinage started when the third ruler of the dynasty issued coins with his portrait. These coins are examples of artistic excellence and celebrate the king's martial qualities and his valour.

Option D i.e. Both ( A) and ( C ) are correct.

Note: due to the loss of imperial authority and decline of territory, the invasions and their feudatories led to the collapse of the empire in the sixth century. They were succeeded by various kingdoms like the Maratha dynasty, Vardhana dynasty and others.
