Complete answer:Chittaranjan is a railway town that lies on the border of Jharkhand and West Bengal. The railway station is located in Mihijam. Chittaranjan is famous for its production of electric and diesel locomotives which is produced by the well known Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) near the Chittaranjan railway station. The factory began its production in 1950 and continued producing till 1972. The factory produced both broad gauge and meter gauge steam locomotives. Besides these it also produced diesel locomotives and broad gauge shunting locomotives.The factory also undertook production of special narrow gauge for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The steam engine production was discontinued in 1972and diesel locomotives were stopped altogether in the early 1990’s. In the year 2018-19 Chittaranjan locomotive works made a world record for manufacturing the maximum number of locomotives in a year. Chittaranjan covers an area of 19.5 sq km and has ample production water and electric supply. It is also an ISO certified township with neatly arranged houses,roads and greenery. There are over 3900 quarters which belong to the employees. The place has a great environment and atmosphere and is taken care of by the government for hygiene and cleanliness purposes.
