Hint:The one step equation is an equation where we obtain the solution only in one step. So we call it a single step equation. Here in this question, we have to describe how we are checking the obtained solution when we are solving one step equations.
Complete step by step answer:
A one-step equation is an algebraic equation we can solve in only one step. The solution of the one step equation should have the coefficient of variable as 1 and it does not contain any number next to it.When we solve the one step equation, we obtain the value of variable x. to check that solution we substitute the value of a variable in the given inequality and if it satisfies the given inequality then the solution is correct.
Let us see this by considering one example.
Ex: Solve the inequality \[x - 5 = 6\]
consider the given inequality \[x - 5 = 6\]
Take -5 from LHS to RHS we have
\[ \Rightarrow x = 6 + 5\]
While the -5 moves from LHS to RHS the sign will change, it will become +5. On simplifying we have
\[ \Rightarrow x = 11\]
Now we have to check the obtained solution.Substitute the value of x in the given inequality. Some substitute x = 11 in the inequality \[x - 5 = 6\]. So we have
\[ \Rightarrow 11 - 5 = 6\]
On simplifying we get
\[ \Rightarrow 6 = 6\]
The above example contains subtraction arithmetic operations. It may be any other arithmetic operations. The one step equation is a linear equation.
Hence, we got LHS is equal to RHS. Therefore, the solution we got by solving the inequality is the correct one.
Note: In algebraic equations we have different kinds of equations. It may be solved by one step, two steps, four steps and so on. The steps will depend upon the degree of the equation. The degree of the given equation also talks about the number of values of the inequality. By using the arithmetic operations, we solve and check the equations.
