Hint: Cell is the smallest unit of life. They are of two types: eukaryotic, which contain a nucleus, and prokaryotic, which do not. Cells are often called the “building blocks of life”. Cells consist of cytoplasm enclosed within a membrane, which contains many biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. All energy flow of life occurs within the cells.

Step by step answer:Cell theory was proposed by a German botanist, Matthias Schleiden(1804-1881) as the basic unit of plant structure and English zoologist, Theodor Schwann (1810-1882) as the basic unit of animal structure in the year 1839. According to their theory, all plant and animal tissues are composed of cells, and within an individual organism, all the cells are identical. Cells are the building blocks of any living organisms. All living organisms are composed of cells. A cell is the basic structural and functional unit of any organ in the living body. All cells arise from pre-existing cells. Cells contain the hereditary information which is passed from cell to cell during cell division. All cells are basically the same in chemical composition.

Note: Plant and animal cells are not visible with the naked eye. The number of cells varies from species to species. The human body contains somewhere around 40 trillion cells. The human brain accounts for around 80 trillion cells.
