Hint:
i) Landslides occur due to faulty designs.
ii) Another reason is carrying out legal and illegal activities.
iii) When a number of mines does not apply logical, technical and scientific principles, it leads to landslide.

Complete answer:
Primary reason for landslides is that it carries various operations that cause vibrations at the earth's surface, particularly blasting techniques and their vibrations that can reach hundreds of meters below the soil surface and pose a danger to other areas at risk of sliding.

On the basis of analytical analysis, from 2004 to 2016, approximately 50 percent of human activities and some natural factors, excluding rainfall and earthquakes (Non-seismic non-rainfall triggered, NSNR) causing landslides worldwide are from mining. They also indicated that all mining methods can be capable of being open pit mines, underground mines or quarries.

Due to blasting activities, triggering landslides that the enormous unfilled excavations create vibrations and it typically results from the exploitation of ore at mining sites. In addition, it was noted that the rise in landslides the outcome of mining has been a big concern and whether it is the risk of landslides, it should be adequately tracked.

The rise in illicit or unauthorized extractions is further emphasized here. Statistics have shown that over 27 percent of human actions that cause landslides have been added to illegal extractions (mining + illegal cutting of hills). This calls for a need to control and force illegal mining operations. Therefore, the contribution of mining to the landslide hazards would be reduced globally.

Note:
i) Mining is required because we cannot get these things from agriculture.
ii) In India, the ratio between mine to surface mine is 20:80.
iii) Kola Gold Field is considered as the first gold mine of India.
