Hint: Blood is a fluid which is present in our body and other animals which helps in delivery of necessary substances which include oxygen and nutrients. It helps to deliver substances to the cells of various body parts and collect waste substances from cells to excrete out of the body.

Blood is a fluid connective tissue of red colour, salty, alkaline or colloidal in nature. It is an essential fluid of the body which helps in transportation of substances like oxygen and nutrients to cells and transport metabolic waste products away from those same cells. There are four functions of blood which are given below:
1. Blood helps in absorption of digested part of the food and transports it to all cells of the body.
2. It helps in transportation of oxygen from lungs to cells and transportation of carbon dioxide produced by cells to lungs.
3. It plays a major role in transportation of excreta such as uric acid, urea etc. to the kidney.
4. It helps to protect us from various diseases like monocytes and neutrophils engulf the harmful bacteria and other disease causing organisms.
Hence, blood helps our body in many ways and it is an important part of our body.
Note: Blood is formed in bone marrow and we can donate blood as it is produced again by our body. There are several blood groups in the human body and only a particular type of blood can be donated to a needy person. There are many blood donation centers in which we can donate our blood.
