Hint: Chemical name of bleaching powder is calcium hypochlorite and it is formed by the reaction between the hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride. It exists as an important raw material for the production of various chemical compounds like caustic soda, bleaching powder etc.

Complete answer: Bleaching powder is a pale yellowish powder having a strong smell of chlorine. It is soluble in water but due to the impurities present in it and it will never find a clear solution. Chemical formula of bleaching powder is $CaOC{{l}_{2}}$. If an acid contains oxygen then it is termed as oxoacid.
-Bleaching is used as a bleaching agent for dirty clothes, disinfection of water and also used as a strong oxidizing agent. The amount of Cl present in the powder is measured by iodometry.
