Complete answer:
The Battle of Buxar was fought in October 1764. In the battle of Buxar, the force of East India Company was commanded by Major Hector Munro and the combined army of Mughal rulers include Awadh, Bengal, and the Mughal empire. The battle took place near the town of Buxar and the British got victory in this battle and a large part of the Indian subcontinent came under British rule. The battle of Buxar resulted in the treaty of Allahabad in 1765, in which the sovereignty of Bengal was surrendered to the British by the Mughal emperor. The main cause behind this battle was the misuse of privileges in trade granted by the Nawab of Bengal and also the colonialist ambitions of the British. Mir Qasim administering Bengal in place of Nawab of Bengal, Mir Jafar, was against the misuse of dastak, farmans by the British, thus he tried to conspire against them and allied with rulers of Awadh, and the Mughal emperor. Before the Battle of Buxar, the Battle of Plassey was fought which gave the company to hold the firm over the region of Bengal.

Hence, the correct answer is option (A).

Note: It is said that the Battle of Plassey made the East India company the ruler of Bengal, and The Battle of Buxar made the company, the ruler of the whole of India for the next 183 years. After this battle, the British controlled Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa.
