Complete answer:
Guru Gobind Singh Ji (the tenth Sikh Guru) fought the battle of Bhangani in 1688 A.D. It was the first battle fought by him, at the age of 19. Guruji went to Paonta Sahib due to his disagreement with Raja Bhim Chand of Bilaspur. The Guru's teachings against castes, idol worship, superstitions, and his free common kitchen where all could eat together, were not accepted to the hill rajas. The Guru's growing power and influence seemed to pose a great danger to them.
The Guru took a band of his best soldiers, and with the help of Raja Medni Parkash, he had a fort built at Paonta in 12 days. Guru’s army was joined by a great many Hindus and Muslims. His strength grew daily. Also, a Muslim saint named Budhu Shah joined his army along with his four sons and 500 followers.
Main Cause of the Battle
Raja Bhim Chand went to Srinagar for the wedding of his son to Raja Fateh Shah’s daughter. Guruji was very friendly with Raja Fateh Shah and sent Nand Chand, one of his followers with a gift for Fateh Shah's daughter. When Bhim Chand found out about this, he would not let Fateh Shah's daughter marry his son and he also attacked Nand Chand and the Guru's soldiers. Fateh Shah then had to please Bhim Chand to avoid disgrace on the day of the marriage.
When Nand Chand reached Paunta, he told Guruji about the incident. The Guru sent some of his troops to Bhangani, where Raja Bhim Chand and his party had to pass on their way home. The News reached Raja Bhim Chand that the Guru was going to block his way home. So he wrote to all the hill chiefs to help him and also asked Fateh Shah to join him with his armies, to destroy the Sikhs. On the other hand, Guru was left in danger when many of Budhu Shah's Pathans and Turkish soldiers ran away during the night. However, their leader Kale Khan, and a few others, stood with him. Budhu Shah heard about the disloyalty of his men in the hour of need. He asked his brother to join the Guru's army with 700 of his most loyal soldiers who were ready to sacrifice their lives for Budhu Shah and Guruji.
Budhu Shah's Pathans and Turk soldiers were afterwards seen fighting on the side of the hill chiefs. Then the Guruji himself entered the battlefield. As a result, the rajas of the hill states suffered a great loss. They fled after their defeat.
At last, Guruji secured a grand victory. With this victory, his powers also increased.
Therefore the correct answer is B
Note
After the battle of Bhangani Guruji realised that if he organised his followers, then he would successfully oppose the Mughals.
Raja Bhim Chand and other Rajas of the hill states developed friendly relations with him.
Guruji left Paonta Sahib and again settled at Anandpur which was in the territory of Raja Bhim Chand.
