Complete answer:
Let us discuss the Ryves Canal which is the starting point of the Bandar Canal. In 1833 a famine wiped out nearly forty percent of the population in the Krishna district. So a canal proposal was made for irrigation and navigation purposes. The canal was dug out by British. Though they enslaved India, they brought some life saving measures in India. They constructed the canal with the Krishna River as source in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The government was under the East Indian Trading Company.
They constructed the Krishna anicut with a canal system. It provides irrigation facilities for six lakh acres of land at a cost of half million. The canal was designed by Sir Arthur Cotton. The Anicut stood for a hundred years. In September 1952 , there was a major breach in the anicut. So, a new barrage was constructed and it was named as Ryves Canal who worked during the construction of the Krishna Canal. It is also called as Prakasam barrage .The canal system consists of three gravitational canals which includes the Eluru canal, Ryves canal and Bandar Canal. Bandar Canal is also called as Mechilipatanam canal. The canal starts from Krishna River and passes through the Visakhapatnam city and enters into the Bay of Bengal. In the canal, water flows from North West to South East direction.
Hence, the correct answer is option (B).
Note:Bandar Canal is one of the three canals in the Ryves Canal. The canals are mainly based on gravity. So the direction is from North West to South East direction which continues the direction of Krishna River.
