First of all, we will calculate the number of digits in any number and if anyone has the maximum number of digits, it will definitely be the biggest number and if any number has the least number of digits, it will be the minimum number.
Now, we are given the numbers as: 5000, 7500, 85400, 7861 .
Now, we see that 5000 has 4 digits, 7500 has 4 digits as well, 85400 has 5 digits and then the last 7861 has 4 digits.
Clearly 85400 has the maximum number of digits. Therefore, it is the biggest of all the numbers.
Now, we are left with 3 numbers with 4 digits each.
We will look at them according to their place values. For a four digits number, we will have to use Thousands, Hundreds, Tens and Ones.
We will look at the Thousands place first of all, we see that 7 is the largest number in thousands column which occurs in both 7500 and 7861.Now, we will look at the Hundreds place to break the tie. So, 7861 is the largest number among these 3. Then we have 7500 and last 5000.
