Hint:In the question, we are asked to arrange the decimal numbers in ascending order. Ascending means starting from a small number and reaching to the largest number.
Complete step-by-step answer:
Here, we can start to arrange the numbers from small to big.
First step, to see the first digit of all given numbers and sorting it in increasing order. For example, if we have a list like 5,34,67,21,12 then we can arrange it by seeing a smaller number other than 5, if not then 5 comes 1st in the list. Then comes 12, then 21 and so on. So, we get 5,12,21,34,67.
Similarly, here first taking the option (a): Here the 1st digit of all 4 numbers are the same i.e. 2. So, now we will look at the digit after the decimal point and compare that single digit in increasing order.
In 2.165, 2.018, 2.2, 2.61 after the decimal point there is 1, 0, 2, 6 digit so 0 comes 1st as it is small compared to 1. So, 2.018 is 1st in the ascending order. Similarly, comparing like this all the numbers we get the list as:
2.018, 2.165, 2.2, 2.61.
Now, taking the option (b): As done in option (a), here we have to apply the same method. By looking at the list i.e. 4.03, 4.30, 4.308, 4.380 after decimal point 0 is small compared to 3 so 4.03 comes 1st. Now, there is the same digit in all remaining numbers i.e. 3. So, we will see the 2nd digit after the decimal point in comparison. If the 2nd digit is also the same, then compare with the 3rd digit after the decimal point. So, we will get list as:
4.03, 4.30, 4.308, 4.380.
Note: Remember that if there is one digit after decimal point and comparing it with suppose 3 digit after decimal point then, there is zero after one digit decimal point. For example, if we have two numbers like 1.5 and 1.965 then, 1.5 is taken as 1.500 so, it's easy to compare 3 digits after decimal point with 1.965.
