Hint: In chemistry an element can be defined as the pure substances which consist of atoms which have the same number of protons in their atomic nucleus. Where protons are positively charged in nature.
Complete answer:
Elements are those which cannot be broken down into further components. When different elements undergo different chemical reactions then atoms are rearranged into new compounds which hold together with the help of chemical bonds.
Oxygen is represented by the symbol $O$ and it is present in the form of gas. Oxygen is present in the group 16 and has atomic number 8 and the group in which oxygen is present is known by the name chalcogens and we know that the members of the same group have similar properties. So the elements which are next to oxygen also exhibit the same properties like oxygen. These two elements are sulfur having atomic number 16 and selenium having atomic number 32; these are present below the oxygen atom in the periodic table. These two metals react with hydrogen gas in a similar manner as oxygen does i.e. it forms a polar bent molecule which contains two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of the chalcogen.
Hence sulfur and selenium are two elements that would have properties similar to oxygen.
Note:
Oxygen gas is very important for human beings as the gas we inhale for living is oxygen gas there is no life possible without oxygen and the main source of oxygen is the process done by plants known as photosynthesis.
