Hint: A defining feature or element of representative democracy is called political parties. In politics, a political party is an organized group of people who, in an effort to get them elected and thus enact their agenda, share the same platform, or have the same political positions.

Complete answer:
Political parties are an almost omnipresent characteristic of democratic countries. There are large political parties in almost all democratic countries, and many political scientists consider that countries with less than two parties are inherently autocratic. A party could gain 2% of the seats from at least three separate states in the Lok Sabha. The party polls 6 percent of votes in any four or more states at a general election for Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly and also wins four Lok Sabha seats. These sources, however, cause a country with numerous competing parties to not inherently be democratic, and many autocratic countries' policies are organized around a single dominant political party. A political party shall, as per the Election Commission, be entitled to be recognized as a national party if, in general elections to the House of the People or to the State Legislative Assembly, it shall secure at least six percent of the valid votes cast in any four or more states. Moreover, it would win at least four seats from every state or state in the House of the People. Or, it receives at least two percent (2 percent) seats in the House of the People and is elected from at least three separate States by these representatives.

Note: The application for registration shall be submitted in the pro forma prescribed by the Commission to the Secretary of the Election Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110001. Performa is available by mail or across the counter from the Commission's office on request.
