Complete Step by Step Answer: Tapi river is also called as Tapti river. This river flows in central parts of India. The length of this river is 724 km. It originates from Multai forest in Madhya Pradesh. From Multai, it enters into Maharashtra and flows through Vidarbha and Khandesh. After Maharashtra, it enters Gujarat. Its mouth is situated in the Gulf of Khambhat. Tapi basin covers the state of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The area of Tapi basin is around 65145 sq km. The basin of Tapi river is situated in the Deccan plateau. The Tapi basin is surrounded by the Satpura range on its north direction, Mahadev hills on its east, Arabian Sea on its west and Satmala hills on its south. Tapi is the second largest west flowing river of the peninsular river system. Around 80 percent part of the Tapi basin lies in the state of Maharashtra. This basin is divided into two physical regions namely the hilly region and the plain region. Satmala, Satpura, Mahadeo and Ajanta hills come under the hilly region of this basin. The plain region of this basin is fertile and suitable for cultivation.
