Complete answer:
Angiosperms differ from gymnosperms in having specialized structures to cover seeds and have vessel cells in the xylem. In the xylem portion, the angiosperm contains xylem fibers, vessels and xylem parenchyma. The phloem angiosperm contains a sieve tube, phloem fibers, companion cells and phloem parenchyma. The xylem portion of gymnosperm contains xylem fibers, tracheids and xylem parenchyma. The phloem gymnosperm contains sieve cells, albuminous cells, phloem parenchyma and phloem fibers. In the xylem portion angiosperms contain vessels but instead gymnosperms have tracheids. Gymnosperms and angiosperms are the two major groups of vascular seed plants. Angiosperms are flowering plants. They are the largest and most diversified group in the kingdom of Plantae. Gymnosperms are a more ancient, smaller group. They consist of plants that produce “naked seeds” which are seeds that are not protected by a fruit.
Additional Information:
Study of gymnosperms is called gymnosperm ology. The Angiosperm group is divided into two classes called monocot and dicot on the basis of the structure of the seed. Angiosperms are estimated to be species. They represent approximately 80 percent of all the plants on this earth that are known. There are more than a thousand species of gymnosperms still found on Earth.
Note:
The key difference between angiosperms and gymnosperms is that their seeds are developed in different ways. The seeds of angiosperms develop in the flower ovaries. The seeds are surrounded by a protective fruit structure. Flowers can be unisexual or bisexual. Gymnosperm seeds are usually formed in unisexual cones called strobili. There is a lack of fruit and flowers on Gymnosperm plants. In the xylem portion angiosperms contain vessels but instead gymnosperms have tracheids.
