After being disqualified and exiled by his family, he entered the Mughal ministry. His renown prominence and military prowess led to his elevating himself to a high position in the kingdom and to the personal recognition of the emperor, who made him a cedar (governor) of a region directly ruled by the emperor himself, Nagaur. In \[1644,\] he was outraged at the emperor's attempt to charge him with impunity. In the royal court, he stabbed Salabat Khan, who had been ordered to pay a fine, to be executed.
