Hint: Literacy rate is estimated by a person’s reading and writing ability, this literacy rate calculation is taken from the child who is seven years above. The overall literacy rate of India is calculated between the age group of 1115 to 24, as the literacy of youth has an impact on the next ten years.

Complete answer:
Always a country’s development is based on literacy. In India the overall literacy rate is 77.7percent. Though literacy rates have been increased after the Independence of India, there is still a difference between the male and female percentage in literacy.
The Government of India is also taking serious measures to make women and children literate in rural and urban areas. Still millions of females are illiterate. The Education gender gap between males and females is due to the social and cultural living, as the cost of studying, fees affect women's education.
The education of women gets affected also due to the social restrictions that don't allow women to move from one place to another for educational purposes. The worrying factor in gender is the literacy gap between males and females. Even though literacy increased after Independence, it still couldn’t remain the same between males and females.
The Government of India also took measures for compulsory education for six to fourteen years old children all over the country as a fundamental right.

Note: After Independence India has made so many efforts in the form of campaigns, schemes, or policies and has overcome the “Low Literacy Trap”. In India, the progress towards literacy, digital knowledge, and skills are to be achieved in 2030.
