Hint: In these types you can solve this problem by two methods one that you can change both the time period hour, minute into sec and another way is two assume 0 hour in the time period where time is 25 min 40 sec using these methods you can easily get the required solution.

Complete step-by-step answer:

According to the given information we have 2 time periods
1st = 13 hr 50 min 31 sec
2nd = 25 min 40 sec
To add the given time periods we will change hour and minute into seconds
Since 1 hour = 60 minute and 1 minute = 60 seconds
So, 13 hr 50 min 31 sec
First converting the 13 hrs into seconds
 13 hrs = 13 $ \times $ 60 $ \times $ 60 = 46800 seconds
Now changing 50 minutes into seconds
50 min = 50 $ \times $ 60 = 3000 seconds
So 13 hr 50 min 31 sec = 46800 + 3000 + 31 = 49831 seconds
And now converting 25 min 40 sec
Converting 25 min into seconds
25 in = 25 $ \times $ 60 = 1500 seconds
Therefore 25 min 40 sec can be written as
25 min 40 sec = 1500 + 40 = 1540 seconds
Now adding both time periods
49831 + 1540 = 51371 seconds
Now converting the 51371 sec into hr, min and sec representation to do so we have to divide 51371 sec by (60 $ \times $ 60)
So 51371 =$\dfrac{{51371}}{{60 \times 60}}$= 14 hr 16 min 11 sec
Hence the sum of 13 hr 50 min 31 sec and 25 min 40 sec is equals to 14 hr 16 min 11 sec

Note: In the above question we used the operation of addition to operate this operation you need 2 operators to operate for example A + B here A, B are the operators but in the above solution we was given 2 operators with different magnitude so to use the operation of addition we converted the time into the simplest unit that was second in order to get the result with same unit.
