Hint- When an acid and a base are placed together, they react to neutralize the acid and base properties, using this basic concept to reach the answer. We will see a basic reaction in order to understand this concept.

Complete answer:
The reaction between an Acid and a base is called Acid base reaction.
Acid base reaction:
When an acid and a base are placed together, they react to neutralize the acid and base properties, producing a salt. The H(+) cation of the acid combines with the OH(-) anion of the base to form water. The compound formed by the cation of the base and the anion of the acid is called a salt.
The combination of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide produces common table salt, NaCl:
$HCl + NaOH \to {H_2}O + NaCl$
This is a basic acid base reaction. Here HCl, an acid, reacts with NaOH, a base to give NaCl, salt and water.

Note- Acid-base reaction can be used to determine pH. The word salt is a general term which applies to the products of all such acid-base reactions. Acid–base reactions have importance in both biochemistry and industrial chemistry. Moreover, many of the substances we encounter in our homes, the supermarket, and the pharmacy are acids or bases.
