Hint: In the given question, we have been given the selling price of an item. It was sold after allowing some discount on it. We have to calculate the price of the item before the discount, i.e., the marked price. To do that, we just put in the values in the formula of discount percent and calculate the unknown.

Complete step by step solution:
Discount, \[d = 12\% \]
Selling price, \[SP = 528\]
Marked price, \[x = ?\] (to be calculated)
Now, the discount formula is:
\[SP = \left( {1 - \dfrac{d}{{100}}} \right) \times CP\]
Now, putting in the values,
\[528 = \left( {1 - \dfrac{{12}}{{100}}} \right)x\]
Taking the LCM and solving,
\[528 = \dfrac{{88}}{{100}}x\]
Solving for \[x\],
\[x = \dfrac{{528 \times 100}}{{88}} = 600\]
Hence, the marked price of the tea set is Rs \[600\].

Note: So, for solving questions of such type, we first write what has been given to us. Then we write down what we have to find. Then we write the formula which connects the two things. In this question, we reversed the formula of discount – we had discount percent, selling price and we wanted to get the marked price, i.e., the price before the discount.
