Hint:When compounds are heated with sulphur they react with metal to form metal sulphides. And this metal supply is of black colored.

Complete step by step answer:
To get the above solution we have some knowledge about qualitative analysis of a compound. When a metal reacts with sulphur they form metal sulphide which is of black color.
There are some specific metal sulphides which are black in color and this is given that metal filling burns vigorously .From this observation we can easily select or know that the metal X is iron.
Iron filings burn vigorously when sprinkled on the flame. These react with sulphur to form ferrous sulphide which is black colored.
And the reaction may be written as, $Fe + S \to FeS$
Hence the black colored compound Y, metal sulphide is $FeS$ .
This compound Y is not attracted to magnets. then metal X is react with $HCl$ to form ferrous chloride and hydrogen gas , then this reaction may be written as ,$Fe + 2HCl \to FeC{l_2} + {H_2}$
Now, metal X react with steam to form $F{e_2}{O_4}$ , and this reaction may be written as
$3Fe + 4{H_2}O \to F{e_3}{O_4} + 4{H_2}$ ,
So, X is iron, Y is $FeS$ and Z is $F{e_3}{O_4}$ .

Note: Metal sulphides , most of them are good electrical conductors and have appreciable optical and optoelectronic properties. They are lustrous and have low hardness and specific gravity.
