Hint :An object is said to be in motion when it is not at rest. An object is considered to be in motion, when it is continuously changing its position with respect to some steady and stationary reference point with respect to time. There are various types of motion. Here we will assume the motion of the swing as the motion of the pendulum and will apply its properties accordingly.
Complete Step By Step Answer:
Let us assume the swinging be the simple pendulum,
So, the time period of the simple pendulum can be given by –
$ T = 2\pi \sqrt {\dfrac{L}{g}} $
Where, T is the time period
L is the length
And g is the gravity of acceleration
Since, the length of the simple pendulum is equal to the distance from the point of the suspension to the centre of the gravity of the oscillating body.
When the girl stands up from the swing, the distance of the centre of gravity of the suspension will decrease and therefore, the time period of the oscillation also decreases.
Additional Information:
The motion in which an object changes its position at irregular intervals of time is known as the non-periodic motion. The motion of an object does not repeat itself with the specific time interval. In other simple words, an object traveling does not travel an equal distance in equal intervals of time.
Note :
The motion can also be described in the terms of the displacement, the distance, the velocity, acceleration, speed and the time. Remember an oscillatory motion are always the periodic motion whereas all the periodic motions are not always the oscillatory motion.
