The development cost was approximately Rs. 30 crores, which was quite economical compared to importing similar technology from other countries.

The development of PARAM was particularly significant because it came at a time when Western countries had imposed technology sanctions on India following nuclear tests. This forced Indian scientists to develop indigenous solutions, ultimately leading to greater self-reliance in critical technologies.
