 Acetylene gas\[(CH \equiv CH)\] acetylene gas also known as ethylene gas. When molecules of iodoform \[(CH{I_3})\] and silver\[\left( {Ag} \right)\] powder react with each other to produce acetylene gas or ethylene gas. This chemical reaction is written as-
\[2CH{I_3} + 6Ag \to {C_2}{H_2} + 6AgI\]
- From this reaction it is shown that when two moles of iodoform react with six moles of silver then it produces one mole of acetylene gas and six moles of silver iodide.
- If \[2mole\] of iodoform can form one mole of acetylene gas then \[0.01mol\] of iodoform will produce \[\dfrac{1}{2} \times 0.01 = 0.005mole\] of acetylene formed.
