Section 1.

Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning

Section 2.

History and Generation of Computers

Computers are everywhere, in schools, universities, offices, homes, etc. You can do anything on them, from playing games to watching videos. So, who invented them? In this section, students learn about what the first computer looked like and how it worked.

Types of Computers

Children need to know that there are many different types of computers. In this section, this idea will be introduced. Students learn about them from microcomputers, minicomputers to supercomputers, servers, and mainframes. The differences between each type of computer and its properties are explained.

MS-Windows 7

In this chapter, the students are taught the basics of Windows 7. They will learn about how to turn it on and shut it down, how to make new folders, how to change the wallpaper, how to open an application, keyboard shortcuts, etc.

MS-Word (Working with Charts and Tables, Using the Page Layout tab, Arranging multiple windows of a document)

This chapter gives a concise introduction to the functions of different buttons in MS Word. Students are given a tutorial about the ‘Insert’ tab. They will learn how to add and delete cells to a table, how to type in a table, etc. The ‘layout’ tab is introduced. How to change the margins, landscape to portrait form, make columns, etc.

MS-PowerPoint (Creating a presentation using Animation, custom Animation, and Transitions, creating new slides using Slides pane, outline pane and Slides from Outline, working with Handouts and Notes Master, arranging multiple windows of presentations, working with Charts and Tables)

In this lesson, the students will learn about PowerPoint. They will see a tutorial on adding or deleting new slides, adding tables and charts in slides, changing transition types between slides, etc. Each student will be encouraged to make a presentation on the topic of their choice.

Internet & E-mail

This section will introduce the Internet to the students. How the Internet came to be and how it works. Students will learn about hyperlinks, web browsers (address bars, bookmarks, history). Students will learn about searching the web and the credibility of information online. A basic structure of the Email is introduced along with its basic functions like sending, receiving emails, etc. 

Introduction to QBasic

A brief introduction to the QBasic programming language is given in this section. Students will type small programs as shown in their books. Then the instructor will help the student change a few things in the textbook’s program and see what happens. Students will explore the programming language and see what they can do using it.

Hardware, Software Input & Output Devices

In this section, the students are given a comprehensive definition of hardware, software, input and output devices. Instructors can also explain these concepts using an analogy from daily life. Then the students are taught examples of each and their properties, including the keyboard, mouse, printer, joystick, monitor, speakers, etc. 

Memory & Storage Devices

The section will teach the children about RAM, ROM, hard disk, cache memory, primary and secondary storage, etc. They will learn about optical media and its different types, including CD-R, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, Blue Ray, etc.
