Concise Mathematics ICSE Solutions are useful for the students as it helps them to analyze every concept of Probability. The solutions are prepared in a step by step method thereby explaining the appropriate problem-solving techniques. Students can find solutions to all the sums given in the exercise at the end of chapter 22- Probability. The solution to each sum given in the exercise is formulated by the expert tutors at Vedantu.
This, in turn, helps the students to excel in the examination as they acquire extensive knowledge of all types of sums. Download the PDF Concise Mathematics ICSE Solutions For Class 7 Chapter 22 by clicking on the link given on this page to secure good marks in the examination.
The exercise section given in Chapter 15 Probability aims to test the students’ knowledge and strengthen the understanding of the chapter. The multiple sums given in the chapter are solved in a stepwise manner with a precise explanation of each step in the solutions PDF. This is usually done to help students to understand how to solve a specific sum irrespective of its complexity.
Exercise 10(A) consists of 10 questions. The questions asked in this particular exercise are quite simple and based on the concepts of probability. Exercise 10(B) consists of 20 questions. The questions asked in this exercise are self-explanatory where stress is given on solving the given situation based on the applications of what you have learned in the chapter.
Probability is a measure of the possibility of an event to occur. Many events cannot be estimated without total certainty. We can only estimate the chance of an event to take place- how likely an event is to happen. The value of probability ranges from 0 to 1. The value of probability 0 implies that an event can’t take place whereas the value of probability 1 implies that an event is certain to take place. Mostly, the value of probability ranges between 0 to 1.
Probability is an important topic for the students of Class 7, which covers the basic concepts of the topic. The probability of all the events in sample space sums up to 1.
For example, when we toss a fair coin, we can get either head or tail. It means that there are only two possible outcomes for tossing a single coin. However, when we toss two coins in the air, there can be three possibilities of an event to take place, such that both the coins can either show head or tail or one coin can show the head and the other tail.
Outcome - The term ‘outcome’ means the result of any random experiment. For example, a coin is tossed and falls on its tail on the surface. So tossing a coin can be considered as a random experiment that results in the outcome ‘head’.
Sample Space - It is the collection of all the possible outcomes for a random experiment. For example, getting head or tail on tossing a coin is possible. Hence, the head and tail are the sample space.
Event - In terms of a random experiment, an event is a collection of all possible outcomes in a specific situation. For example, on casting a die, 5 is not obtained. This event is considered as a random experiment that is a casting of a die whose outcome is not 5. Hence, this event has 5 possible outcomes, i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.
The formula used to calculate the probability is:
P(A) = Number of Favorable Outcomes/ Total Number of Favorable Outcomes
P(A) = n(E)/n(S)
P(A) is the probability of an event ‘A’.
n(E) indicates the number of favorable outcomes.
n(S) indicates the total number of events included in the sample space.
Note: The favorable outcome in the probability formula refers to the outcome of interest.
