Important Terms of RD Sharma Class 8 Chapter 23- Classification of Data

  1. Data - Data is the collection of facts such as numbers, words, measurements, and so on.

  2. Observations - The fact that is collected about a particular variable is known as observation.

  3. Raw Data - Raw data is the data that has not been used yet.

  4. Frequency - The frequency of a particular data is the number of times that data value occurs.

  5. Frequency Distribution - The frequency distribution provides the number of times a value has occurred within a given period of time.

  6. Discrete Frequency Distribution - The discrete frequency distribution is the one in which the data can take only certain values.

  7. Grouped Frequency Distribution - The grouped frequency distribution is the one in which several numbers are grouped into one class.

  8. Class Interval - When the data is very large and is classified into groups, each group is known as class interval or class.

  9. Class Size - Class size is the difference between the upper limit and lower limit of a class interval.

  10. Class Limit - The smallest data value that can go into a class is classified as the lower-class limit while the largest value that can go into a class is classified as the upper-class limits.
